2023 Evolve Hadean Review

The Hadean Carbon is Evolve’s answer to the question: What if we combined a fighter jet with an electric skateboard? If Batman traded in his Bat Cycle for another ride, this would be it. The Hadean’s 31 mph top speed is enough to make even the toughest skaters weak in the knees. And even if you’re knees aren’t wobbly with fear after staring 6000 watts of power straight in the face, they will be at the end of a 40 mile ride. Oh, and let’s not forget that the Hadean is an absolute unit that can climb 35% inclines faster than Alex Honnold can billygoat his way up El Capitan.

INTRO

Comparing the Hadean stats to Evolve’s Carbon GTR series, which has a top speed of 24 mph, a max range of 19 miles and can only climb 25% grades, and it quickly becomes clear that the Haadean is chillin’ in the “best of the best” category.

COMPANY OVERVIEW

The Evolve Hadean Carbon All Terrain is priced at $2,299 USD, and comes with a 2-year warranty. That’s a step up from the GTR’s $1,599 starting price. Evolve is an Australian based company, which actually makes a lot of sense. Australia is basically a modern day Spartan training ground filled with some of the world’s most dangerous snakes, spiders and an unforgiving outback, so of course this would be home to the Hadean.

DECK MATERIAL

The Hadean’s 39 inch deck is simply superb. It's inspired by supercars and is forged using carbon fiber, making it incredibly strong yet lightweight. The deck also has aluminum finned channels for maximum airflow and better heat dissipation unlike the GTR Carbon. You may be saying, wait this thing has fins? To Which we say, of course it does, because again, Australia. But not the fins your thinking of. Did you know it can get to around 120 degrees Fahrenheit there? Cooler motors run better, and cooler batteries last longer. the Deck has an illuminated logo in center field and epic LED running lights embedded in the undercarriage. This lighting system adds some great flare, while also increasing safety. This is Huge Jackman win, folks. We dont see LED running lights on the GTR carbon and we also noticed that the Hadeans Deck is slightly wider as well. Huge win for all the big footed folks out there (Cough-“Brent”)

TRUCKS

The Hadean is rockin’ Evolve’s Super Carve Trucks, just like the GTR, with a width of 12 inches and 8 mm axles. If you haven’t ridden on these trucks before, you’re in for a pleasant surprise. Carving on empty streets at 2 a.m. never felt better.

WHEELS

The Hadean All Terrain comes with 7 inch pneumatic tires, which are great for tackling off road trails. The larger angle of attack means you won’t go flying off the board every time you hit a pebble. But it also means your center of gravity is higher, which does sacrifice some stability. If you want a lower center of gravity, you can try Evolve’s street wheels. They’ll get you a higher top speed — 31 mph vs 26 mph — and put you lower to the ground too.

MOTOR

This is where things get even more interesting. The Hadean has 6,000 watts of power on tap. Hitting the go button literally feels like launching off an aircraft carrier. It’s like riding a catapult. This board is Fast with a capital F. Cooler still is the fact that you can use in app customization to tweak the acceleration and braking curves.

BATTERY

However far you can go on an electric skateboard, the Hadean can go farther. Inside the deck rests a massive power plant. The flexible battery has 16 amp hours of juice that will get you up to 40 miles of range with street wheels, and about 25 miles of range with the all terrain wheels. The GTR on the other hand can only take you 19 miles.

But even with this chonky battery, the Hadean still only weighs in at just under 30 pounds, and has a max load capacity of 265 pounds. That makes the Hadean 5 pounds heavier than the GTR, but it can also go more than twice as far and carry an extra 45 pounds

.

REMOTE

The Evolve Hadean electric skateboard comes with a remote control that's built to last. The Evolve Phaze remote is a piece of art, with a CNC aluminum-reinforced body that's sure to turn some heads.

This is a huge step up from the older Evolve remotes, which felt lighter in the hand and just didn’t hold up to wear and tear quite as well as these more durable ones.

TERRAIN

The Hadean is suitable for short grass, dirt, gravel, roads, and footpaths. It is also great for sliding on offroad terrain, but not recommended on sealed surfaces. If you’re looking to head up a hill, make sure it’s less than a 35% grade, as that is the recommended max angle for this Beast  .

BRAKING

Just like the GTR Carbon, The Hadean is equipped with FOC regenerative braking, which provides an incredibly seamless experience. The essence of regenerative braking is that during braking, a portion of the energy generated is redirected back to the battery, resulting in longer ride times and the ability to leverage hills and stops to your benefit. As mentioned earlier, the board's braking curves are adaptable, allowing for customization to optimize the experience to your preferences.

FINAL THOUGHTS

The Evolve GTR Carbon is a great beginner board, but dont let that fool you, it will spark your desire for excitement! The Evolve Hadean is made for the thrill seeker. It’s not meant to be practical, even though it is. No, the Hadean is built to make your stomach lurch every time you hit the gas. It’s meant to stoke your inner fire and put a smile on your face. It’s supposed to be wild and a little unpredictable! If you have tons of experience on electric skateboards and are ready to take your game to the next level, the Hadean is board for you.
